Use HAPPYCAR to find the perfect car hire Poland for your Polish adventure. Located in central Europe, and neighbors countries such as, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, this mostly flat country has a lot to offer for the budding visitor, from stunning cities to forests in the east and mountains in the south.

Poland is the 10th largest country in Europe with a population of 38 million, meaning there are vast lands that are scarcely populated, fitting as the name Poland means, “people living in open lands.”

Cities

The city is located on the Vistula, the largest river in Poland, Despite being heavily destroyed during the Second World War, it is still a major tourist destination for tourists. Fortunately, parts of the city have been rebuilt to look as they once did.

Sights include St. John's Cathedral which was reconstructed after the war. Jablonowski Palaca a Neo-Renaissance style palace, restored to its 18th century form. The Royal Castle Warsaw is a UNESCO World Heritage Site meaning the castle is definitely worth a visit.

Krakow: Take your car hire Poland to Poland’s second largest city and the cultural capital, with a population of over 700,000, has a stunning Old Town where one can find many attractions. The original town was destroyed, but the original tower from the 13th century remains today, and you can get a good view of the city from the top. Wawel: One of the most import historical sites in the country, it used to be the place of coronation of the old Polish monarchs, housing a castle/palace and a cathedral as well as other stunning buildings. Within the cathedral you can take in the beautiful interior and can find the royal crypt that is home to the deceased rulers of the country. Within a short driving distance from the city is the infamous historical site that is Auschwitz, and a visit is recommended to those interested in the history of Poland.

Gdansk: The former Hanseatic City, previously named Danzig, with a population of just under 500,000, is considered to be one of, if not the most stunning city in Poland with its beautiful architecture. Some highlights are St. Mary's Church, which holds a capacity of 20,000 people, it is considered to be one of the biggest brick churches in the world. Malbork Castle is located about an hour drive out of the city and it is an amazing castle built by the Teutonic Knights in the 1400's. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Polish National Historic Monuments list.

National parks

Bialowieza was established in 1921, this is Poland oldest national park. Sharing the border with Belarus, it was the old hunting ground of the Polish monarchs and Russian tsars. The park is the original home the largest land mammal on the European continent, the bison, which has been reintroduced into the wild after dying out in the early 1900's. A lot of the park has been free of human disruption, so you can see the forest in its original state.

Bory Tucholskie National Park is an area of forests and lakes covering 17 square miles and is home to some 140 different species of birds. You can travel along one of the many bicycle trails or walk along the many paths and get lost in the forest.
