Background Information

Founded in 1932 as Shosseynaya Airport, the airport was subject to intense fire during the Siege of Leningrad in the early 1940's, but by the end of the decade was running as normal and began expanding into the 50's with a redesigned airport terminal, and international flights were implemented in 1965. Pulkovo Airport was named in 1973 and today operates two terminals, one for domestic flights and another for international trips.
