Museums

Kunsthaus or the Museum of Modern Art, was built in 1910, and is one of the most popular museums in Zurich housing a rich collection of art dating back to the middle ages up to the present day. Showcasing paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography and video, mainly Swiss sources.

The Swiss National Museum is located right next to the city’s main train station. It houses the country’s largest historical and cultural collection. The building dates back to the early 1900's and is a stunning building, almost in the style of a French chateau. Museum Rietberg showcases collections of world history and art, with most of the pieces are from an old collection massed by Baron von der Heydt, who donated all the pieces to the city in 1952. The pieces vary from Islamic to Chinese and African to Buddhist art.
