Inside you will see the amazing and empty cenotaph to Emperor Maximillian and decorating the tombs are stones depicting important events in the emperors life. It is guarded by 28 bronze statues, one of which is King Arthur. There is also a tomb to the Austrian hero, Andreas Hofer, who fought against France in the war of the third coalition. He later led a rebellion against the joint Bavarian – French forces and was later executed.

Innsbruck Cathedral was built in the first half of the 1700's and inside you will find the important painting “Maria Hilt” by the German Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach the Elder. There is also a tomb of the grand-master of the Teutonic Knights, Maximillian III of Austria, who died in 1618. The cathedral has some stunning paints on the ceiling and can be admired not just from the inside but from the outside as well.

The current building, built in the 16th century, is on the site of a 10th century Ambras Castle. The castle was turned into a palace when it was acquired by Archduke Ferdinand I upon becoming ruler of Tirol. Under his ownership the Beautiful Spanish Hall was built and the palace contains large collections of armor, weapons and paintings as well as some stunning gardens.
