The glass, titanium, and limestone building, right in the city center, was designed by the famous architect Frank O'Gehry and is today one of the most important and modern museums in Spain. Here the visitor is given the opportunity to see especially modern and contemporary art of the 20th century. Three architects – Frank O. Ghery (USA), Arata Isozaki (Japan), and Coop Himmelblau (Austria) – were invited to compete to produce a design concept for the museum.
Azkuna Zentroa, Alhóndiga Bilbao
A majestic work of art by the talented architect that is Ricardo Bastida, restored by the multi-talented Phillippe Starcke in collaboration with Thibaut Mathieu. This now refreshed wine warehouse has been transformed into a multi-purpose venue located in the city center. Italian stage designer, Lorenzo Baraldi, graced Starcke with his materialization of his cinematographic vision with the 43 pillars that symbolize the continuum of wars, cultures, art, and religions of the world.
Teatro Arriaga
Bilbao is a city of diversity, combining old architecture and modern architecture. The Teatro Arriaga is a prime example of this ancient architecture. In 1890, this theater was built in the Neo-Baroque style. The façade has countless frescoes and details and shows the visitor the historical, romantic Bilbao.
